About Mark Patnode

Mark Patnode, Purchase College BFA ’78, is a Fellow of Urban Artists Initiative, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts & CT State Office of the Arts (COA). Mark has served on the CT State Arts Council and is an I-Park Fellow, and Vermont Studio Center Fellow. Listed in Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement, Mark’s work is in the Smithsonian Institution Permanent Collection. Mark was selected by CT Governor Rell to create a painting for CT’s 375th Anniversary. Mark is an Elected Member of Salmagundi Art Club, Mystic Museum of Art, Norwich Arts Center, Coast Guard Art Program (COGAP), Member of the Bulgarian-American Creative Society, USA Visual Artist Instructor for CREC CulturArte, Africa (2007, 08). Mark served as a Juror for the CT Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Annual Show (2015) and Clinton Art Society (2017). Mark is juried into the COA Directory of Teaching Artists as a Connecting & Integrating Teaching Artist. Mark’s book, “Cultivating Illuminations” is available through Amazon.

  

Patnode’s work has been featured in numerous galleries and museums, including Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery, Wesleyan College, Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT, seven Faber Birren National Color Award Shows at Stamford Art Association, Lyman Allyn Art Museum, New London, CT, The Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY, Slater Memorial Museum, Norwich, CT, Smolyan Gallery & National Palace of Culture, Bulgaria. Patnode has been interviewed by American, African, Bulgarian, Cape Verdean, Portuguese press. Patnode was contributing illustrator for United States Submarines, David R. Hinkle, Editor, published by Hugh Lauter Levin Associates, Inc., 2002. Patnode received publicity in the Jan 2003 edition of American Artist magazine. Patnode is published in the 2008 Orpheus Art Album Ford / Brod, St. Klinent Ohridski University Press, Lyubomir Levchev, Editor. Patnode’s work is published on the cover of the Jan 2015 edition of Ink Magazine, with an accompanying article and in HOOK Magazine Jan / Feb 2019 edition. Patnode served as a Juror for the CT Academy of Fine Arts Annual Show in 2015.
